Product Description

Our multi-wall concealed floating shelf brackets offer the most versatile invisible shelf bracket method currently available for fixing floating shelves and mantels. Of our own design, the completely concealed shelf bracket is assembled from an interchangeable thread and barrel section. As a result it can adapt to a wide range of wall surfaces i.e. solid walls, plasterboard walls and dot and dab walls.

We supply this shelf fixing with two different barrel length options. Measuring 80mm or 120mm, this invisible floating shelf bracket is suitable for supporting most shelf sizes between 90mm and 250mm deep. For heavier duty applications or deeper shelves over 250mm, please see our Heavy Duty Floating Shelf Brackets.

We produce these floating shelf brackets with a specific diameter. This ensures an interference fit (when fitting the shelf) in a 12mm mounting hole. This eliminates the need for a locking screw to hold your shelf in place. Additionally, we offset the screw thread to the barrel to give you fine levelling adjustment of the shelf during fitting. A 12mm diameter hole is necessary in the back of the shelf. Therefore we recommend the shelf is a minimum of 20mm thick.

To purchase additional component parts as spares or alternative wall types, please see our Multi Wall Floating Shelf Bracket Replacement Components.

How to Fit Our Floating Shelf Brackets

Please head to the “Fitting Video” tab above for our handy fitting guide. This demonstrates using these brackets to fit a floating shelf. You can also find written instructions in PDF format on the “Fitting Instructions” tab above.

Solid Wall

The solid wall floating shelf bracket has a 65mm thread section and comes provided with a high quality Fischer 10x60mm universal wall plug. These brackets can also be fixed into timber studs and battens, either with or without the wall plug. (A 5mm hole is necessary for the latter).

  • Max shelf depth: 250mm
  • Min shelf thickness: 20mm
  • Max weight per bracket: 10kgs
  • Min fixing qty: 2 per/m (3 per/m for 250mm depth)

Drill bits you will need:

Dot and Dab Wall

The dot and dab wall invisible shelf bracket has a 100mm thread section. This allows for an increased reach into the solid portion of dot and dab or insulated walls. The maximum recommended cavity span for this fixing is 25mm. This bracket comes provided with a high quality Fischer 10x100mm wall plug.

To increase to weight per bracket to that of the solid wall bracket, we recommend that the wall is strengthened at the fixing point using Fischer Chemical Resin. For more information on this, please visit our FAQs page.

  • Max shelf depth: 250mm
  • Min shelf thickness: 20mm
  • Max weight per bracket: 8kgs
  • Min fixing qty: 2 per/m (3 per/m for 250mm depth)

Drill bits you wil need:

Plasterboard Wall

The plasterboard wall shelf bracket comes together with a high quality, high strength Fischer Duotec 12 fixing. This allows for securing into plasterboard or any cavity/panel material between 12 and 35mm thickness.

The plasterboard thread is also suitable for securing into timber stud work (with or without using the Fischer Duotec plug). This is extremely convenient should you hit any studs when drilling into the plasterboard.

  • Max shelf depth: 150mm
  • Min shelf thickness: 20mm
  • Max weight per bracket: 6kgs
  • Min fixing qty: 4 per/m

What is it that prevents the shelf coming off of the brackets once fitted, as they are loose in the holes before being fitted?

Although the bracket seems loose in the holes in the back of the shelf before fitting, when installing this is usually not the case and the recommended hole sizes have been specified to account for this. The Multi Wall Concealed Floating Shelf Bracket has an offset thread, which allows the fitment to be tightened if need be, by turning the offset outwards so that it pinches the outer edges of the shelf.

Which length of barrel should I use for my shelf, 80mm or 120mm?

We recommend using the longest one possible for your shelf. However this should stop short of the front of the shelf by at least 1cm to avoid potentially drilling through the front of the shelf.

I’ve ordered the dot and dab variation of the Multi Wall Concealed Floating Shelf Bracket and want to use the chemical resin method when fitting, please can you explain this method?

Drill a hole in the fixing position through the plasterboard only. Insert the chemical resin nozzle into the hole until it is touching the solid wall behind. Inject resin into the hole to create a dab, backing the nozzle out as you go with the aim to create a dab or bridge between the plasterboard and the solid wall at the fixing point. If the cavity is particularly large this may need to be done in several stages letting the resin set up in between each.

When the resin has set you can then re-drill your fixing hole through the plasterboard, new dab and then into the solid wall behind.

If you have filled the original plasterboard hole with resin (which is quite likely), take care when then drilling the hole through the chemical resin. You will now have a hard spot of resin surrounded by soft plasterboard and it is easy for the drill to slip of course when starting. Pilot drilling with a small bit first will help to stop this happening. You will also want to try and ensure the cured face of the resin is flat without peaks to give a good drilling surface to start from.

All good apart from the screws 2 snapped when fitting , think they need to be stronger as they were going into hard wood and they seemed to me to snap very easily, but everything else was good, not a problem as I fixed them, I would still buy them again just one of these things to look out for, thanks again your service was great

  24. Alan

Fantastic quality product. Have used these brackets on two occasions now for mounting floating shelves made from scaffolding planks. On both occasions I used the dot and dab fixing. Worked very well both times. Excellent quality with the off centred thread a bonus for minor levelling accuracy. Easy to follow video instructions. Would highly recommend!

  25. Paul Clarke

Quick and easy to order, the brackets are good quality and easy to fit. Very strong in a brick wall and they hold my shelf unit very well. The adjustment available in the barrel is a very good feature and ensures a tight fit

  26. Phil M

The brackets are fitted and seem to be doing the job holding my daughter’s floating shelf, as was my need. The fittings I originally had, in retrospect were not for a plasterboard wall, and did not support the weight. The ones you supply are quite an ingenious design, yet easy to fit. Thank you and I shall bear your company in mind should I need such fixtures etc. in the future.

  27. Steve Johnson
